E-commerce Store Launch Checklist: Payments to Fulfillment
Check product pages, payment processing, shipping, order notifications, mobile checkout and customer support before launching an online store.

Product pages should explain what the buyer receives, show appropriate images, and state variants, availability and important restrictions. Use clear category navigation and predictable mobile layouts. Where measurements, ingredients or compatibility matter, make those facts easy to find. Avoid importing manufacturer text unchanged across many products when additional helpful descriptions would answer actual customer questions.
Test the checkout end to end
Place test orders through the intended payment provider and verify confirmation messages, receipts, inventory updates and staff notifications. Review how failed payments, refunds, discount codes and abandoned sessions are handled. Make shipping charges and estimated delivery assumptions understandable before the final payment step. Do not store card numbers yourself when a reputable hosted or tokenized payment integration can handle them.
Prepare the business operations
Identify who fulfills orders, resolves returns, responds to delivery problems and manages tax settings. Publish accurate contact information and policies appropriate to your business and jurisdiction. Set realistic stock availability, handling expectations and order-status messages. Train staff on the tools they will actually use, not only the customer-facing interface.
Measure and improve the right steps
Track product views, checkout starts and successfully completed purchases separately. Check analytics accuracy while respecting applicable consent and privacy requirements. Review customer questions and failed checkout reports as opportunities to improve product explanations and usability. Monitor page speed on typical phones, since a beautiful store is not helpful if buyers cannot complete a purchase.

Frequently asked questions
Should I start with hundreds of products?
Not necessarily. A smaller catalog that you can accurately manage can provide a clearer launch and better customer support.
Are payment-processing fees included in web design quotes?
Often not. Confirm provider transaction fees and any recurring platform charges separately.
